Combustion Aerodynamics

As GE Aerospace develops and improves its fleet of gas turbine engines, Andrew's primary focus is on hydrogen adaptability. Andrew is developing rig tests for two land-based engines to determine their potential to run pure hydrogen, as well as mixed hydrogen and natural gas. As a combustion engineer, Andrew is heavily focused on the behavior of the hydrogen flame inside the combustion chamber, necessitating design changes to accomodate hydrogen's high flame speed and high specific energy / low energy density.

Andrew executes the design, analysis, and evaluation for a variety of gas turbine projects by employing fundamental engineering principals and practical hands-on testing to develop new and improved gas turbine engine functionality with hydrogen. Additionally, Andrew supports conceptual and theoretical activities aimed at optimizing combustion and emission performances.
